Where and when are the meetings?
As of September 2009, DC213 has been temporarily combined with the LA2600 meeting until we can find a new home.
LA2600 meets on the first friday of every month at Phillipes Deli in Downtown Los Angeles. The address is 1001 N. Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA. 90012.
Visit http://la2600.org/ for more information.
What are the presentations generally about?
We generally lean towards highly technical presentations on somewhat offbeat topics, although we occasionally have "Introduction To [whatever]" talks on more mainstream topics. Past talks have included:
- Recognizing human fatigue through facial patterns
- Neuro-Linguistic Programming
- Corewars
- Creating art with fractals
- Forensics resistant computing
- Introduction to Cryptography
- Law Enforcement investigative techniques
- Computer security incident response
- Telephony and VoIP
- Urban survival in disaster situations
- Performing mass unattended Windows installations using Linux
For more details on our past talks, see the Archives page.
I'd like to give a presentation. Who do I contact?
We accept speakers based on their ability to speak in detail and with authority on their chosen topic. If you have a topic you're comfortable lecturing on, send email to Vidiot with the following information:
- Name (legal name or handle)
- Topic
- Month during which you would like to speak
- Contact info
- Summary of your talk (somewhat lengthy and detailed, as we do want to keep the meetings as technical as possible)
Note to potential speakers: Please be absolutely certain that you will be available and ready to speak at the meeting before committing to doing your talk. Getting replacement speakers on short notice can be a real bitch.
